Joining The IMAU

Thank you for your interest in joining the Intercontinental Martial Arts Union. To apply for IMAU membership, you should first read the requirements for the various memberships and select the one most appropriate for your needs, then fill out the Application Form. If you have any questions contact the representative for your State, Region or the National Representative for your country, if unavailable use our contact page to talk to the World Director.

Below you will find the services available by the IMAU and the requirements for membership and what is included with the various memberships and services.

Individual Membership
As a martial artist, you already know everything changes, and if you wish to be the best you need to be able to adapt An IMAU Individual membership will help fulfill that need. By becoming a member of the Intercontinental Martial Arts Union, you will be able to attain a higher level of proficiency through our network of members, plus you will also receive support from an organization that has an unwavering commitment to its members.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. You must agree to follow the rules and bylaws of the IMAU.
2. If you have the Annual (1) Year membership, you are responsible for renewing it. The IMAU will never automatically renew your membership.
3. You must complete the membership application below.

INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP FEES

School Charters
The Intercontinental Martial Arts Union School Charter is one of the best in the martial arts. We do not get into politics, and promise to allow you to teach your own system, your own way. With the IMAU Charter, you not only receive your Internationally Recognized School Charter Certificate, but as a bonus the Head Instructor receives; Lifetime Membership, Black Belt Rank Recognition, Instructor Certification, Instructor Titling, and access to exclusive Charter School deals. RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. You must be a member of the IMAU.
2. You must agree to follow the rules and bylaws of the IMAU.
3. You must actually be teaching a martial arts program.
4. To qualify for the IMAU School Charter, you must register five (5) students with the IMAU.
5. If you run multiple schools you only need (1) Charter, as long as you are the
       Head Instructor.
6. You are responsible for renewing your charter. The IMAU will never automatically renew your charter.
7. You must complete the School Charter application below.

Rank Recognition
Have you earned a belt in the system you are studying? The IMAU would be proud to recognize, or further legitimize your rank for you. The process is easy, and inexpensive.

Video (VHS/DVD) Testing
With people working more and not having the time to join a dojo, it is no surprise that in recent years there's been a boom in the sales of videos/dvds designed to teach certain skills. As soon as it was determined to be effective, forward thinking martial artists entered the fray and began covering every style imaginable. It has become a big business. Up to 35 percent of the ads in Black Belt Magazine offer some form of video instruction. If you are one of these people the IMAU is here for you. We will rank you in the art that you are distance studying.

RULES AND REQUIREMENTS
1. You must be a member of the IMAU
2. You must agree to follow the Rules and Bylaws of the IMAU
3. You must send a written copy of the requirements for the belt level you are testing for
4. You must send a vhs/dvd of you performing the material as required.
5. Once we receive your video, we will review it. Once it has been reviewed we will send you a letter or video with our comments, and your belt and certificate
6. You must complete the Video Testing application below.

   - Colored Belt + Lifetime Membership = $65.00 (USD)

Instructor Certifications
An IMAU Instructor Certification is important not only to you, but most important for your students, as a IMAU Certified Instructor you set yourself apart from the everyday Sensei. By earning your IMAU Instructor Certification you are telling your students "I am committed to being the best instructor I can be." As an IMAU Certified Instructor you can provide respected training and rankings for your students, with this you become a professional martial arts instructor. To become an IMAU Certified Instructor please review the requirements below and complete the application.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. You must be a member of the IMAU
2. You must agree to follow the Rules and Bylaws of the IMAU
3. You must hold at least a 2nd degree Black Belt
4. You must actually be teaching a martial arts program.
5. You must be able to submit a copy of your current certificate.
6. You must complete the Certified Instructors application below.

CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR FEES
   - Lifetime Certified Instructor = $35.00 (USD)
   - Certified Instructor + Lifetime Membership = $60.00 (USD) (You save $25.00)

Instructor Title Certifications
The IMAU offer instructor Titling to those who qualify. If you are a black belt instructor, and would like to have you title offically bestowed upon you, please review the requirements below and complete the application.

2. You must agree to follow the Rules and Bylaws of the IMAU
3. You must hold at least a 1st degree Black Belt
4. You must actually be teaching a martial arts program.
5. You must be able to submit a copy of your current certificate.
6. You must complete the Instructor Titling application below.

Sokeship Council
Have you created a new style of martial arts? If so the IMAU may be able to grant you a Sokeship. Our Sokeship Council is comprised of several Grandmasters. Each representing different disciplines. A Sokeship is only granted after a stringent check of an applicants qualifications.

RULES AND REQUIREMENTS
   - Must be a Lifetime member of the IMAU

   - Must agree to and follow the Rules and Bylaws of the IMAU

   - Must have 25 years of martial arts experience.

   - Must hold at least a 5th Degree Black Belt in an art other than the one you are applying for the Sokeship, and be able to provide proof of certification.

   - Must hold at least a 2nd Degree Black Belt in an art other than the one you are applying for the Sokeship, and be able to provide proof of certification.

   - Must be able to produce a system syllabus outlining your course curriculum from White to Black Belt.

   - Must send a dvd/vhs of yourself performing each belt level of the system curriculum.

   - Must have produced at least one 3rd generation Black Belt.

   - Must supply us with copies of any Sokeship Certifications already granted.

- Must complete the Sokeship application below.

   - Must be able to provide 3 references

Training Seminars

IMAU Quarterly E-Newsletter
The Intercontinental Martial Arts Union publishes a quarterly E-newsletter. Each E-newsletter is written by the members of the IMAU and is e-mailed on the 3rd weeks of January, April, July, and October. This newsletter is designed to keep the IMAU member in touch with upcoming events, news and, most importantly, each other! We provide brief descriptions of martial arts news, events, online resources, including original written material, and some other published works. Wherever possible and appropriate, we provide a link to our resources. Our E-newsletter is sure to involve, inspire and inform you and others like you.
